Welcome to Global Concerns Classroom Educator Resources.
In order to be active global citizens in an increasingly interdependent world, young people must be well-informed about international issues. Global Concerns Classroom works directly with educators to “globalize” school curricula through a broad spectrum of classroom and extracurricular activities.
Our materials are designed to be adaptable for use in your classroom to meet the specific needs of your students, curricula, and subject area. Although educators across the country have implemented the materials across the curriculum, the materials are particularly relevant to national curriculum standards in the content areas of social studies, science, and English. Additionally, we encourage educators to use our materials in extra-curricular activities and non-traditional learning environments.
Classroom Guides to Global Issues
Our student resource guides to current global issues are one component of GCC. There are seven guides, each of which explores a specific issue and geographic region.
Classroom Activities
GCC coordinates a wide variety of student activities in schools throughout the New York City area to raise awareness of global poverty issues. All services and programs are available to schools free-of-charge.
Lesson Plans
GCC provides lesson plans designed to help teachers implement global themes into their classrooms and utilize our curricular materials.
Ideas for Student Projects with Global Themes
There are many ways to implement GCC materials into your classroom curricula. The materials can be integrated into classes across the curriculum. We encourage you to use and adapt our materials to meet the specific interests and needs of your students.
