Chicago Golf Outing

SPONSORSHIP
OPPORTUNITIES

The 2011 Concern Worldwide Chicago Golf Outing, presented by Collins Engineers and The McShane Companies, was held on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Harborside International Golf Center.  The event brought together business leaders, supporters and new friends of Concern for an enjoyable day of golf and raises critical funds for people living in absolute poverty.

Rev. John P. Foley, S.J. served as this year’s Honorary Chairman.  Father Foley is Executive Chair of the Christo Rey Network, an association of Catholic high schools that serves urban young people utilizing an innovative work-study model. Father Foley founded Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Chicago in 1996.The school offers a college preparatory education for children of immigrant families that live on Chicago’s near southwest side.

This was Concern’s ninth annual golf outing in Chicago.  Since 2003, Concern’s golf outing has raised substantial funds for development programs in Haiti, Mozambique and Sierra Leone.

Funds raised from the 2011 Chicago Golf Outing will support Concern’s Education Program in Kenya.  The focus of this program is to improve access to quality primary education for 8,000 of the most vulnerable children (orphans, street children) in the worst slums of Nairobi. Concern will work with six local partners and focus on out-of-school children and those at highest risk of dropping out, particularly girls and orphans.  In 25 non-formal schools, classrooms and water and sanitation facilities will be constructed; 100 teachers will receive training on quality curriculum delivery; and school-based child protection policies and procedures will be established.

We gratefully acknowledge the many corporate, foundation and individual donors who support Concern’s emergency relief and development work around the world.  Your generosity makes a tremendous impact.
