Despite a short delay in the morning, owing to a light electrical storm, 140 golfers remained in high spirits throughout the day and played a great game of golf on the beautiful and rugged links of the Port course.
Since 2003, the Chicago golf outing has raised substantial funds for Concern’s development programs in Haiti, Mozambique and Sierra Leone. Thanks to our supporters, Concern’s water and education programs have been strengthened and expanded in these countries, and countless vulnerable individuals and their families have benefited from sustainable improvements to their communities.
Concern would like to acknowledge the ongoing support and generosity of our three presenting sponsors: The McShane Companies, Collins Engineers and John P. Sweeney. Funds donated by these committed sponsors, along with additional corporate support, has secured funds to build seven water cisterns and rehabilitate a number of wells on the island of La Gonave in Haiti, that will ultimately benefit 18,900 people in 2009. Great strides in alleviating poverty and improving human health in Haiti have been made possible because of their remarkable generosity.
We would like to extend a special thanks to this year’s honorary chairperson Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart; Emcee and FOX-32 political reporter Jack Conaty; Event Chairman Rich McMenamin; Board Member Bob Fitzgerald; and the members of the golf committee, for their hard work and dedication. The success of this year’s golf outing is testament to their group effort.
Our sincerest thanks for your commitment to Concern!
