Eric Slade, Concern’s Education Advisor, shares a presentation with students |
Global Concerns Classroom believes that in order to be active global citizens in an increasingly interdependent world, young people must be informed about international issues. GCC coordinates a wide variety of student activities in schools throughout the New York City area to raise awareness of global poverty issues. All services and programs are available to schools free-of-charge. Please contact us for more information about how to coordinate classroom activities in your school.
Global Concerns Clubs
GCC works in collaboration with educators to facilitate and coordinates global action clubs, which can take place during school hours or after school. Global Concerns Clubs empower students to become active global citizens by organizing activities to raise awareness in their school communities about the issues that are most important to them.
Voices From the Field
Enrich your curriculum by inviting Global Concerns Classroom speakers into your classroom! GCC speakers provide a window into international humanitarian work. Each year, GCC speakers visit schools in the New York metropolitan area and share their inspiring stories about working to create a more equitable world through humanitarian work in countries around the globe.
GCC presentations engage students in interactive, dynamic presentations, which include pictures, personal stories, and real-life case studies. GCC is proud to offer an extensive range of themes and countries of focus for the classroom presentations during the 2008/2009 academic year, such as:

Student Workshops
Every year, GCC organizes an annual student workshop. In addition to our annual student workshop, we also work in direct partnership with schools to design and implement workshops to accommodate individual school needs. All GCC workshops emphasize building skills in critical thinking, research, analysis, public speaking, listening, consensus-building, and debate. Global Concerns workshops create a student-centered, participatory, and inquiry-based learning environment.
