Siobhan O'Donoghue is the Associate Director for Community Service, DePaul University. She was born and raised in London, where she worked in television and advertising and in corporate communications with a British investment bank. In her free time, she was active as an organizer and volunteer in community service. Siobhan then decided to make her part-time volunteer work with the poor a full-time effort.

In 1992, Siobhan worked in Arizona with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, serving the homeless and marginalized. She then joined the Pallotines in Milwaukee where she provided job counseling for the homeless and poor as an employee of the St. Vincent DePaul Society.

Siobhan joined DePaul University in 1999 with a Masters Degree in Divinity and a Masters Degree in Social Work, both from Loyola University Chicago. In her role as Associate Director for Community Service, Siobhan provides comprehensive and strong leadership for DePaul University’s commitment to and involvement in community service and outreach, including: DePaul Community Service Association, the Political Activist VIA Engagement Program, Service Immersion Trips, Postgraduate Volunteer Service, and Special Service Days. There are 20 student community service organizations and more than 1,500 students actively participating each year. Siobhan is a facilitator in DePaul’s student leadership program which focuses on expanding students’ education to include active community service, social responsibility and leadership development for more than 400 students.

During Siobhan’s ten years at DePaul, the DePaul Community Service Association has grown from nine to over twenty student organizations. These service groups have broadened not only the services rendered by students, but also the interfaith perspective of University Ministry by  hampioning diversity on campus.

Siobhan oversees a budget of $200,000 and 4 full-time staff members and a large cadre of students. She also teaches classes focusing on social justice and Catholicism. Siobhan is known as a trusted mentor by many students and has helped many young adults become involved in postgraduate volunteer service and careers that focus on social justice and service. Because of their DePaul experience and Siobhan’s influence, these students will be our future leaders who will continue this commitment to social change.
