Each year Concern celebrates the achievements of women in business, media and the public sector for their extraordinary efforts to focus public attention on global humanitarian issues around poverty and injustice.
Concern salutes these women for being a bridge of hope with the women of the developing world and their families. The 2012 Women of Concern Awards Luncheon will take place on Thursday, June 28, 11:30 am at the Grand Hyatt Hotel near New York’s iconic Grand Central station. Concern is delighted to present this year’s honor to Dr. Anita M. Sands, Head of Change Leadership, UBS Wealth Management.
Dr. Anita M. Sands is a global business leader, academic, public speaker, and advocate for the advancement of women. She joined UBS Wealth Management Americas in the fall of 2009 as the Chief Operating Officer and currently, as the Head of Change Leadership she is charged with executing the organization’s transformational strategy, through the introduction of innovative technologies and industry leading platforms.
Anita has been a long time advocate for the advancement of women. She is a member of the International Women's Forum, which advances leadership across careers, cultures and continents by connecting the world’s most preeminent women of significant and diverse achievement. She is also a previous board member of Women in Capital Markets and serves as the executive sponsor for UBS's Women's Employee Network. In 2012, Anita spoke at the Stern Women and Business Conference and has been recently invited to the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit. She is currently a mentor for the W.O.M.E.N. in America, an organization that enables women to fulfill their maximum potential in the Board Room, the C-Suite, as entrepreneurs, and as leading edge professionals in their chosen profession

Anita has been involved in numerous non-profit boards; she is a former board member of organizations such as the Ireland Fund of Canada, Ireland Park Foundation, Ontario Centers of Excellence Photonics Board of Management, The Ireland Canada Chamber of Commerce, and CareerEdge (Canada’s leading internship organization). Anita is a graduate of the London School of Music, and a former all-Ireland public speaking champion.
