Chef Caroline Glover

Founder of Annette and Best New Chef by Food & Wine

Caroline Glover founded Annette in the Fall of 2016, named after her feisty and brilliant Great Aunt Netsie. Caroline was a semi-finalist for a 2020 James Beard Award in the “Best Chef, Mountain” category. She has received this honor for three years running: in 2018 and 2019, she was a semi-finalist in the “Best Chef, Southwest” category, and in 2018 Annette was a semi-finalist for “Best New Restaurant.” In 2019, Caroline was named one of the 10 Best New Chefs in America by Food and Wine magazine. In 2017, Annette was named one of the 50 Best New Restaurants in the Country by Bon Appétit and Eater Denver’s Restaurant of the Year. Annette has been on 5280 Magazine’s list of Denver’s 25 Best Restaurants each year since it opened. Caroline is an alumnus of the James Beard Foundation Chef Boot Camp for Policy & Change program.

Chef Chris McDade

Owner of Popina

Growing up in a Southern household, Chris understood the importance of food from an early age. After coming to the conclusion that he would never pitch for the Atlanta Braves, he picked up a knife and headed for the kitchen. He has cooked in some of New York and Atlanta’s best – and most challenging – restaurants, including Union Square Hospitality Groups’ Maialino and Marta, Kevin Rathbuns’ KR Steakbar, and Jonah Millers’ Huertas. The dream of owning his own restaurant has been the singular vision of Chef Chris since he first put on his chef whites, and it is what has motivated him throughout his career. When he’s not cooking pasta he’s probably eating pizza. He’s rumored to be stubborn at times.

Chef Gabe Kennedy

Chef and Cofounder of Plant People

Gabe Kennedy is an acclaimed chef and entrepreneur. The son of an acupuncturist, herbalist and chiropractor, he is passionate about the power of food as a tool for health and regeneration. He co-founded Plant People, a climate-neutral mushroom and herbal supplement certified b-corp distributed in over 2000 stores nationally. Named to Forbes 30 under 30 in 2020, Gabe has shaped menus and cooked his way around the globe with a mission to promote a more communal, green and healthy world. He was an executive chef at Bon Appetite Magazine and appeared on HBO’s Selena and Chef, Chopped and won Anthony Bourdain’s competition show the Taste. Gabe is a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America and Cornell University, Hotel School.

Chef Gary Maclean

Scotland’s First National Chef

Born in Glasgow, 47 year old multi-award winning chef Gary Maclean spent his early career was working in hotels where he learned a number of key skills. At the age of 30 he opened his own restaurant in Glasgow and as head chef challenged himself to regularly create new and exciting menus for his customers. From there he went on to run the kitchens at Glasgow’s Gallery of Modern Art and the Burrell Collection. Gary has also held executive chef positions at two of Scotland’s biggest independent operators and his current role as Senior Lecturer at City of Glasgow College is what really drives his passion for mentoring other young chefs and creative cooking. In December 2016 he was crowned MasterChef: The Professionals Champion 2016, after taking on 47 other professional chefs in the pursuit of gastronomic glory. In 2017, the Scottish Government announced, Gary Maclean as Scotland’s first National Chef.

Chef Hawa Hassan

Founder of Basbaas Foods, Author of In Bibi’s Kitchen, Host of Food Network’s Hawa at Home

Hawa Hassan is the founder and CEO of Basbaas Foods and author of In Bibi’s Kitchen: The Recipes and Stories of Grandmothers from the Eight African Countries that Touch the Indian Ocean. Inspired by the women of Africa, the book is a collection of recipes and stories from the kitchens of bibis—Swahili for grandmothers—from eight East African nations touching the Indian Ocean. In 2014, Hawa’s line of small-batch, hand-crafted organic condiments was born. Inspired by the flavors of her native Somalia, Basbaas’ product line includes a dark tamarind sauce that defines sweet and sour and a nubbly cilantro chutney with herbal, citric depth and just the right amount of heat.

Chef Marcus Samuelsson

Chef and Restaurateur

Marcus Samuelsson is the acclaimed chef behind many restaurants worldwide including Red Rooster Harlem, MARCUS Montreal, Marcus B&P, Red Rooster Overtown and Marcus at Baha Mar Fish + Chop House. Samuelsson was the youngest person to ever receive a three-star review from The New York Times and has won multiple James Beard Foundation Awards. He is a longstanding judge on the hit Food Network show Chopped and head judge of the new Top Chef Family Style. He is the author of multiple books including The New York Times bestselling memoir Yes, Chef and his latest book The Rise.

Award-Winning Recipe Developer, Food Stylist and Cookbook Author of Colombiana

Mariana Velásquez is a food stylist with more than a decade of styling amongst New York’s most celebrated culinary circles and publications across the globe. A tastemaker who explores the juxtaposition of food, fashion and art, Mariana’s work is an edible canvas where she invites the viewer to eat with their senses. She is a published author of three recipe books including her most recent work Colombiana: A Rediscovery of Recipes and Rituals from the Soul of Colombia. She was selected among some of the country’s best to food style American Grown, by First Lady Michelle Obama, a project that took her career into the White House kitchen and garden.

Owner and Executive Chef of Scampi NYC

Chef PJ Calapa, formerly of Michelin-starred Ai Fiori and partner in The Spaniard, brings the bold flavors of southern Italy to Manhattan’s Flatiron District with Scampi. Named as a tribute to one of Calapa’s favorite restaurants from his childhood in Texas, Scampi offers a thoughtful menu that showcases both the land and sea with delicately composed crudos, handmade pastas, seasonal vegetables procured from the greenmarket, and masterfully-prepared grilled items.

Chef Roshni Gurnani

Winner of Food Network’s “Chopped” and James Beard Policy & Change Boot Camp Alumni

Chef Roshni has her own catering and consulting company, as well as, a published cook book author. Chef Roshni believes “food is a journey, not a destination.” With her unique fusion style of cooking, blending different cultures together and her hard work and dedication, she holds numerous awards and recognitions as “Chopped Champion” on the hit Food Network show Chopped, feature in the Boston Globe newspaper, being one of the top 5 Indian chefs in USA by India Currentsmagazine and invited to be the featured chef for Masala, Mendhi, Masti in Canada, North America’s largest South Asian festival. She was a contestant on the very popular FOX TV show Hell’s Kitchen with Michelin Star chef Gordon Ramsay and was the only chef among 18 that Chef Ramsay addressed as a “passionate, well-rounded chef that blended flavors magically.”

Chef Roxana Jullapat

Head Baker & Owner of Friends & Family Bakery and Cookbook Author of Mother Grains

Baker/Pastry Chef Roxana Jullapat, a Los Angeles native of Costa Rican and Thai descent, pursued a degree in journalism before turning to cooking. While taking a break after graduating from college, Roxana found herself baking a tarte tatin in the kitchen of Café Figaro in the bustling neighborhood of Los Feliz. Her fate was sealed. Over the next ten years she held tenures at nationally acclaimed restaurants including Campanile, Bastide, Lucques, AOC and Clarklewis. In the fall of 2011, she teamed up with chef Daniel Mattern to open Cooks County, which they ran for 4 years. In May of 2017, she opened Friends & Family bakery, where she has fully manifested her appreciation for ancient grains and California’s seasonality in her breads and pastries. She’s an advocate for garden-based education, and volunteers often at school gardens around town. Her first cookbook, Mother Grains: Recipes for the Grain Revolution (W.W. Norton), was released in April of 2021.

World Renowned Food & Travel Author, Food Network Television Personality and Broadcaster

Simon Majumdar is a world renowned broadcaster, author and cook who has dedicated the second half of his time on this planet to fulfill his ambition to “Go Everywhere. Eat Everything.” He has written three books and is a well-recognized TV personality, regularly appearing on Food Network and Cooking Channel shows such as Guy’s Grocery Games, Cutthroat Kitchen, Beat Bobby Flay, Iron Chef America, The Next Iron Chef, The Best Thing I Ever Ate, and Extreme Chef. He has also recently appeared as an expert commentator on National Geographic’s major series “EAT: The Story of Food,” in addition to being a restaurant critic for Time Out LA, has written other articles for such outlets as The Guardian and The Times of London, and is the creator and host of the food history podcast, EAT MY GLOBE: Things You Didn’t Know You Didn’t Know About Food.

Chef Walter Staib

Emmy Award Winning TV Host of A Taste of History

A third-generation restaurateur with more than four decades of culinary experience, Chef Walter Staib is an author, Emmy Award winning TV host, James Beard-nominated chef and culinary historian. He began his career in Europe, receiving formal training in many of Europe’s finest hotels and restaurants. Chef Staib has also authored six cookbooks, has made numerous appearances on local and national cooking shows, such as 60 Minutes, the Today show and the Food Network’s “Best Thing I Ever Ate” and “Iron Chef,” in addition to earning recognition for his show A Taste of History. The ACF’s American Academy of Chefs inducted Chef Staib into their Hall of Fame as Celebrated Chef and Historic Hotels of America honored Chef Staib with the auspicious title of Historian of the Year.

Chef Zoe Adjonyoh

Founder & Cookbook Author of Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen

Zoe Adjonyoh is a chef, writer and activist from South-East London on a mission to bring African food to the masses. Zoe has been pioneering modern West African food in the forms of supper clubs, private dining, her own restaurant in Brixton, pop-ups, street food and events since 2010. She has been named one of “London’s hottest chefs” by Time Out and was listed as one of the “44 Best Female Chefs” by Hachette Cuisine France. She won the “Iconoclast” award from The James Beard Foundation. Zoe has just released her new podcast ‘Cooking Up Consciousness’ and has joined the board at ‘The New American Table.’
